2017 champion’s school presented with cheque

17 Oct 2017

Yesterday morning, Queen’s Park Community School in Brent, where our “Speak Out” Challenge! 2016-17 Champion Macsen Brown is a student, was presenteded with a cheque for £3000, part of Macsen’s prize for winning the Grand Final in July 2017.

MP for Hampstead and Kilburn, Tulip Siddiq, attended yesterday morning’s assembly. Tulip congratulated Macsen and addressed Queen’s Park Community School. Afterwards, she reiterated to us what she had said to the pupils: “The ability to speak clearly and effectively is paramount. It takes a lot of courage to deliver a speech or to speak out when no one else will. Having confidence in your voice opens the door to opportunities. I am immensely proud of Macsen’s achievement and encourage all young people to speak up and speak out.”

We look forward to hearing about what Queen’s Park Community School plans to do with its winnings and we thank them for hosting the presentation assembly. In the meantime, Macsen and fellow “Speak Out” Challenge! alumni will travel up to Cambridge on Wednesday as part of Speakers Trust’s alumni programme. The day will include a tour of the colleges and an insight into life at Cambridge University.
