Meet Grand Final Judge, Lois Mia Chapman

16 Nov 2021

On Monday 29th November, Jack Petchey’s “Speak Out” Challenge! Grand Finalists will take to the stage of the Cambridge Theatre and share their speeches for the last time in this competition. The job of the selecting a Grand Champion falls to a panel of VIP judges. They will use  The Communication Triangle of Content, Delivery and Structure to determine the winning speech of the evening.

We’ll be sharing who they are one by one so that you can get to know them and learn what they will be looking for in our Grand Finalists’ speeches. We are thrilled to share this news with you – let’s meet the judges! Lois Mia Chapman is a social media influencer and actress who uses Tik Tok and Instagram to reach out.

We asked Lois; in your experience what does it mean to find your voice?

It is where you feel confident and powerful. Where you can speak to others and maybe even impact or effect them through the power of words. It’s being able to make change.
Why is empowering young people important to you?
I think it’s so important as they are the future. They are often over looked to be just “kids” but some kids have a brighter and more intelligent mindset than some adults. Take Greta Thunberg for example, she’s incredible.
What does communication mean to you?
Communication is so important because without it, we just go round in circles. Communicating options or plans of action is so important. It’s how all great ideas and movements start. Using communication, we can come together and create something amazing.
Thinking about our young speakers, how can they provoke the change they want to see in the world?
Just be honest. Tell us the cold hard facts, make us see that you’re right and that all we can do is listen and learn. Be passionate and be clear.
